In no particular order, here are a few of my favorite people and places on the web. Enjoy!

Beads of Courage

Beads of Courage provides artisan beads to children coping with serious health issues; for each procedure or treatment, a child is allowed to choose a bead to add to his or her string. The string of beads gives each child a tangible way to document his or her journey.

Wesley Fleming

Glass sculptor Wesley Fleming is well-known for his amazingly detailed and life-like glass insects. I had the great privilege of working with him on an article for the Spring 2010 issue of The Flow magazine. Entitled "Reproducing Nature - Wesley Fleming, Master of Realistic Results," the article highlights Wesley's strategy and tips on researching and developing scientifically accurate sculptures.

Greyhound Pets, Inc.

C'mon. You know you want one. They're sleek and sweet, fast and funny. Adopt a retired racing greyhound and find out how wonderful it is to share your home with one (or more) of these 45-mile-per-hour couch potatoes. We adopted Rufus and Sam from Greyhound Pets, Inc. and are thrilled with the community of greyhound lovers who "adopted" us!

The Colorado Project

This is exactly the kind of thing that makes me proud to be a flameworking artist - by and large, the art glass community is filled with caring people who want to make a positive impact on our world.

The Female Flame Off

The Female Flame Off is an international group of women glass artists who gather to compete and raise money for charity.

Rice Freeman Zachery

Rice is a talented artist and an amazing writer. She's blessed us with a number of great books, not the least of which is "Living the Creative Life."

Gail Crosman Moore

Gail is a mixed media artist and primarily works in borosilicate glass, felted wool, and precious metal clay (PMC). I wrote a profile of her for the Winter 2008 issue of The Flow magazine, and through our conversations, I discovered that she is as gracious a person as she is a talented artist.

The Flow Magazine

The Flow is one of the premiere magazines for lampworking glass artists.

Love and Logic

Jim Fay and Foster Cline's sensible, humorous, and effective approach to parenting has saved my bacon more than once. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Buck's Culinary Exotica

According to the website, Buck's is "your ultimate source for impossible-to-find ingredients." I consider reasonably priced truffle oil to be an impossible-to-find ingredient, and am thankful that I can find it at Buck's, along with a world of other delicious goodies including tandoori seasoning and powdered porcini mushrooms.

The Toymaker

Artist and paper engineer Marilyn Scott Waters is an extraordinarily generous and talented soul. She invents and designs fabulous paper toys, which she posts on her website for all to download, FREE! Marilyn's also got a terrific book out, The Toymaker, filled with paper toys ready to cut out, glue and/or tape, and play with. Marilyn lives up to her motto: "to amuse and delight."

Jonathan's Wild Cherry Spoons

Jonathan makes the BEST spoons! These spoons are sculpted to fit the hand comfortably and are a pleasure to use, as well as easy to care for. Jonathan's spoons have a permanent spot on my wish list.
